Kea in flight is cut out of plywood and painted with acrylic paint. It floats out from the wall approx 2cm which gives the painting a greater sense of movement and an interesting shadow. When creating this painting I was inspired by out beautiful New Zealand native bird, the kea. I love the idea of capturing this single moment in the flight, like a photograph, but in painting form.
