I am excited to be teaming up with Craft Central Markets and opening a unique pop-up shop in Lower Hutt’s CBD this week.
We are opening in previously-vacant shop on the corner of Laings Road and High Street, Lower Hutt. It is a beautiful corner location, with big windows, lots of light and all the space we need. I’m going to be using this space as my main studio space, so will always have a painting on the go. Come along and see what I’m working on at the moment.
Libby Dearnley is the organiser of the Craft Central markets. Last year she ran markets at Roxy Cinema and St James’ Theatre, with upcoming Christmas craft markets this year to be held at Mac’s Brewery, Roxy Cinema and the Dowse. She is excited to be opening a shop to give the stallholders a further avenue to sell their crafts.
I have to give a big thank you to the council-run About Space programme, which encourages vacant shop owners to partner with various local artists and groups to open short term shops. It’s so cool that I have been able to be part of this programme.
I will also be running adults art workshops and a makers club from the space so if you want to stay informed, like and follow my Facebook page to hear about whats coming up. Here is the Pop Up shop Facebook page too.
The Pop Up Shop is open Monday–Saturday, 10am – 5pm, 4 Laings Road, Lower Hutt. If you can’t make it to the opening, then I’d love to see you in the shop sometime.
