This is the latest painting in a series that I’ve been working onfor the opening of my exhibition at Kakapo Ink. (see the invite at the bottom of the post – I’d love you to come along if you are in Wellington, NZ)
The series concentrates onthe conceptof tattooing as represented by the organic pattern. Whilethinking about getting a tattoo myself, I’ve been exploring the ideas around how deep a tattoo goes on a person. Are theyjust skin deep? Or bone deep? Do the ideas and design that people have tattooed on their skin express some deep, personal meaning or are they just decorating their body with a permanent accessory?
